Corvette Restomod C3. This updated Corvette coupe is perhaps the best performing C3 Vette you will find anywhere. Period. The flawless Silver paint sparkles like new on a body that is free of any blemishes and has never been hit. The camel leather interior is impeccable -- no wear, no rips, tears, stains, or fading. Subtle pin striping and airbrushed badges are a hint that this car is much more than the eye can see. Its clean, fresh appearance certainly does not tell the whole story. This Corvette is a gnarly, C6 eating, heart throbbing sleeper. It is a big bad wolf in a sheep suit. Read on...Built for the street, but comfortable on a race track or Gymkhana course, this amazing C3 coupe packs some big surprises. When new, these cars were so stripped of performance by regulations that they hardly met the criteria for sports cars. So, the anemic original engine has been jettisoned and replaced with a ZZ383 stroked small block delivering more than twice the horsepower this car had when it left the Bowling Green assembly line. The aggressive 425 horsepower mill hooks up to a Tremec TKO600 heavy duty 5 speed overdrive manual transmission. When the competition 12 inch clutch is engaged, a Dana 44 PosiTraction differential with 3.54:1 gears delivers the power to the ground. The cooling is provided by an oversized aluminum cross flow radiator with dual Spal electric fans. A unique ram air induction system feeds cool air to the KandN air filter atop a thirsty 750 cfm Rochester QuadraJet carburetor. The specially constructed stainless steel exhaust system roars exuberantly, adding to the pleasure of driving this Corvette down the street. All that power would be meaningless if the car didnt have the structural integrity to take it. The pristine body rides on a hardened, powder coated, chassis that features Gen 3 front and rear adjustable transverse monosprings, heavy duty Bilstein sport shock absorbers, heavy duty front and rear anti-sway bars, rear adjustable struts, crossmember reinforcements, MIG welded upper and lower control arms, and power assisted 12 inch Wilwood disk brakes at all four corners. With Steeroids power rack and pinion steering, this car handles like a contemporary Corvette under all driving conditions. There were a total of 25,407 copies of the 1982 Corvette coupes produced by Chevrolet, including 6759 Collector Edition cars. It was the last year of the C3 generation, and at that time, this model was rumored to be the last Corvette ever. Perhaps that is why the 1982 Corvette was the first to eclipse the $20,000 price mark. Now, 35 years later, very few of these cars remain, except for a few hundred of the Collector Edition Corvettes. This one stands alone and perhaps the best of the late C3 Corvettes. The coupe has the RPO V054 storage rack option to stow the mirrored glass T-tops. This is an automobile that anyone would be proud to own. It has carefully maintained and driven just 6400 miles since completed. In addition to its performance attributes, it also has the creature comforts of cold air conditioning, power windows, power steering and a theater quality AM/FM/CD sound system. Everything works, and every square inch of this car is above average. Yup, even the headlight doors have been tweaked to work better than they did when new. This Corvette is genuine eye candy, and even though it draws attention from everyone at Corvette shows, only the true enthusiasts can appreciate the unmatched engineering and attention to detail of this build. The painstaking reconstruction of this C3 took more than three years and in excess of $50,000 to accomplish. A thick file folder of all receipts, construction details and photos come with the car, along with a custom car cover. |
