There just might not be a bigger bang for the buck anywhere in our inventory than this 1984 Chevrolet Corvette. Now you may already be saying to yourself that an 84 Corvette is nothing specialand#44; but take a closer look: theres a 383 cubic inch stroker motor under the hoodand#44; fully functional A/Cand#44; and a long list of upgrades that make this car more than a match for cars costing thousands more. Theres a certain appeal to the first of the all-new C4 Corvettes. Imagine the impression of seeing this car for the first time after more than 15 years of the C3; it must have been revolutionary. And its held up rather welland#44; with clean lines that are unmistakably Corvette. The two-tone bronze finish was the poster car for much of Chevys advertising around the new Vette and you have to admit that it still looks pretty good. Sureand#44; its obviously an 84and#44; but its cool the way your favorite old jeans are cool and nobody thinks of a guy driving an 84 Vette as pretentious. Its in pretty darned nice shapeand#44; tooand#44; as if someone has always loved it and treated it as a special car. Gaps are goodand#44; which shouldnt be a surprise because the C4s were quite well builtand#44; and theres a uniform shine that extends to the bumper coversand#44; which are usually the first things to start to show their age. This is one heck of a good-looking car! The C4s interior was cutting-edge tech in 1984and#44; and this one shows it rather well. The brown leather upholstery actually conveys a high-endand#44; luxurious look that is far from dated and actually looks pretty contemporary given the recent trend towards natural colors. The seats are in excellent condition with only very minor signs of use and the carpets have obviously been protected all their lives. Even the door panels look freshand#44; with their two-tone detailing and not so much as a dent where the driver might have rested his elbow. The digital gauges are perhaps the most gee whiz part of the designand#44; and they remain bright and clearand#44; conveying information with easy-to-understand displays. Theres also a great-sounding Kenwood stereo systemand#44; functional A/Cand#44; power windows and locksand#44; cruise controland#44; and a tilt wheeland#44; so theres really no reason why you wont enjoy driving this Corvette. Even the hatch area doesnt show any UV damage and offers a good amount of storage for road trips. The original Crossfire injected 350 cubic inch V8 has been dumped in favor of a recent 383 cubic inch stroker motor that probably doubles the original engines output. The injection is goneand#44; replaced by a 4-barrel carburetor and a few well-chosen billet aluminum and chrome pieces really dress up the engine bay. An all-new serpentine belt drive system with new accessories from March gives it a big boost in the reliability department and the ignition is by MSD so it fires up easily even without the EFI. Long-tube headers feed a brand new dual exhaust system that sounds spectacular and the 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission was always the right choice in an early C4. The underside is shockingly cleanand#44; with nice floors and clean suspension components that strongly suggest this car has never spent a day in the snow and salt. And Iand#44; for oneand#44; love the early C4 aluminum wheelsand#44; which are aerodynamic and functionaland#44; with these wearing fat 225/50/16 BFGoodrich radials. You can still get a lot of performance for your moneyand#44; and nowhere is that better illustrated than with this clean 84 Corvette. Call today! |
