The Porsche 928 was produced as a luxury GT car from 1978 to 1995. It was originally intended to replace the well known and loved 911. The 928 offered a combination of power and refinement plus excellent handling with room for four people, albeit with limited room for rear seat passengers. Porsche executives believed that these modern attributes would create a new market with wider appeal than the quirky, sometimes difficult and smaller 911.

The 928 featured a front mounted, water cooled V8 engine driving through the rear wheels. The engine displaced 4.5L and featured a single overhead camshaft producing 219 bhp. The engine was upgraded in 1980 from mechanical to electronic fuel injection, with power output remaining unchanged. Porsche utilized a transaxle to achieve a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. While it weighed more than the 911, its improved weight distribution and higher engine output gave it similar track performance. The car was considered a much more relaxing machine to drive on the track than the 911. The car also was offered with a choice of manual or auto transmission, again expanding its potential appeal to a wider group of drivers.

The car offered here is a low mileage vehicle with a clean CARFAX report which spent a considerable amount of time at the owners second home in Florida. The car has accumulated only 67,805 miles and is in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically. The car was recently checked over in our shop to make sure that all systems were functional and that the car was ready for sale. This included a final cosmetic clean up and installation of cocoa floors mats and refinishing the dashboard screen crash rail. The car runs well and is ready for a new owner to enjoy its power and fine handling. Offered at $19.50 K
