With increased interest in cars of the 80sand#44; perhaps this 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz will find its place in the collector car world. Wonderfully preservedand#44; its a nice survivor and a great example of Cadillacs flagship from a time when few folks were thinking about future values. Luxury was luxuryand#44; and this Eldorado delivers big! Having been in a single owners care since it was newand#44; it should be no surprise that this is one heck of a nicely preserved Eldo. The light yellow paint still shines like a top-of-the-line Cadillac should and the squared-off styling has aged quite welland#44; giving the car a very upscaleand#44; elegant look. Among todays rounded luxury modelsand#44; this one stands proud. Most of the paint is originaland#44; although there are a few touch-ups intended to keep it looking its bestand#44; and even the important parts like the flexible fender fillers at the front end are in excellent condition. A crisp pinstripe highlights the snappy fender line from nose to tail and vertical taillights are a Cadillac theme that have been in constant use for decades. Theres plenty of flashy chromeand#44; including heavy bumpers and a wonderfully ornate egg crate grilleand#44; and the stainless rockers reinforce the cars long wheelbase. And yesand#44; theres a padded half roof with opera lightsand#44; a trademark of the 80s thatll bring a smile to your face. Plush tan leather is as opulent as you could getand#44; and the baroque interior styling certainly works with the Eldos exterior look. Everything GM could think of was standard on this top-of-the-line modeland#44; including power seatsand#44; windowsand#44; and locksand#44; automatic climate controland#44; a tilt wheeland#44; twilight sentineland#44; and a bunch of other cool 80s tech. Digital dashboards were popularand#44; but this one uses the optional analog setup that is both more reliable and more stylish today. Light-colored faux wood on the dash brightens up the interior and gives the Eldorado a continental flavorand#44; and all of the interior materials are in excellent condition. The seats have minor comfort marks but no damageand#44; the carpets are still protected by the original matsand#44; and the door panels look very nice. Slam one of the big doors and you can feel the oversized weather stripping sealing up the interior like a tomb. The original AM/FM/cassette stereo is still in the dashand#44; complete with ornate little knobsand#44; and the trunk is as luxuriously carpeted as the interior. Cadillacs 4.1 liter V8 was a workhorse during this periodand#44; showing up in all manner of passenger carsand#44; and if properly maintainedand#44; theyre smoothand#44; torqueyand#44; and reliable. They make nice V8 sounds and you cant argue with the fuel economy of a big luxury car like this. Fortunatelyand#44; this one has been well maintained and it showsand#44; with the engine bay looking particularly tidy and with all the original equipment intact and only some surface scale on the air cleanerand#44; which is pretty typical. It starts easily and once its up to cruising speedand#44; it just loafs along at 75 MPH with nary a whisper. The Eldos all-independent suspension is comfortable and competent and theres a disc brake at each cornerand#44; tooand#44; giving the Cadillac coupe a fairly impressive spec sheeet. Wire hubcaps on steel wheels should look familiarand#44; and they wear relatively recent 225/75/15 whitewall radials. An inexpensive way to get some top-of-the-line luxury and perhaps score yourself a future classic at the same time. Call today! |
