The Corvette hobby is one of the best in all of the automotive kingdomand#44; with enthusiastic ownersand#44; great eventsand#44; andand#44; obviouslyand#44; fantastic cars. This 1985 Corvette is a fastand#44; fun entry-level Vette with no vicesand#44; excellent originalityand#44; and lots of documentation. Its rather rare to find an unmodified Corvette of this vintageand#44; but this one has obviously led a very easy life as a fair-weather toy. Showing just 68and#44;311 original milesand#44; the bodywork remains in great shapeand#44; and while Corvettes of this period are known for being hardcoreand#44; this one has aged very gracefully with no cracks or obvious signs of hard useand#44; and the shiny Medium Gray Metallic paint suggests that someone spent a lot of Saturday afternoons lovingly washing and waxing its sleek surface. The slippery gray paint itself is idealand#44; the perfect look for the high-tech 1980sand#44; and if you think a gray Corvette cant be a hardcaseand#44; guess againand#44; because this one rocks. The black rub strip that surrounds the body adds contrast and shows no UV damageand#44; and the tinted windows combine with a smoked acrylic top to give it a no-nonsense look that really works. For a car thats more than three decades oldand#44; this one looks a fraction of its age. The C4 had a state-of-the-art interior in 1985 and it has aged welland#44; both in terms of design and in this cars caseand#44; preservation as well. The leather seats are called Graphite and it works extremely well with the gray bodywork. Showing modest wear thats appropriate for its age and mileageand#44; the interior is comfortable and invitingand#44; but definitely performance-oriented with a driver-centric instrument panel full of digital gauges that are still bright and easy to read. Carpets and door panels show excellent preservationand#44; as does the cargo area out back. Turn the key and the dash comes to lifeand#44; and you have all the options at your fingertips: cold A/Cand#44; power windows and locksand#44; cruise controland#44; a tilt wheeland#44; and an AM/FM/cassette stereo that still sounds great. Crossfire injection was deadand#44; and the all-powerful L98 debuted in 1985. Torquey and as reliable as a muleand#44; the 350 cubic inch V8 provided Corvette power for years and remains one of GMs better efforts. Its also insanely easy to modifyand#44; with a vast aftermarket designed around it. But a modified engine is also one thats been used hardand#44; but youre in luck because this one remains bone stock. From the distinctive intake manifold to the finned aluminum valve coversand#44; it remains clean and well-maintainedand#44; and thanks to GM electronicsand#44; it still starts instantly and idles like it should every single time. The 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission snaps off downshifts with only a light prodand#44; yet cruises effortlessly at highway speeds and actually pulls down decent fuel mileage. The exhaust system is new and sounds awesomeand#44; the suspension still delivers impressive gripand#44; and the brakes are powerfuland#44; even by todays standards. Original 16-inch alloys are in excellent shape and wear fat 255/50/16 performance radials that really fill the fenders. Its hard to go wrong with a Corvette of any kindand#44; but this one that also includes a ton of documentationand#44; factory booksand#44; and window sticker is a smart choice. Call today! |
