Details: | The goal of the 1984 C-4 Corvette was to keep the Corvette identity while upgrading all of its sports car characteristics. The front grill was gone completely in the C4 and was replaced with a set of halogen running lamps. Smoothing the sides gave a whopping 6 inches more shoulder room. Ground clearance was increased to 5 inches so the designers were able to incorporate more headroom along with lowering the roofline by about an inch which also improved aerodynamics. The very useful hatchback opening became a part of all C4 Corvettes. Engine access was improved with a clamshell hood design that also allowed for suspension and wheel access. An epoxy coated magnesium air cleaner cover was designed for a similar look as the suspension pieces which were also visible when the hood was opened. Aluminum alloy was used in the half shafts, differential support, front and rear suspension cross members, drive shaft, torque converter, transmission housing and various mounting brackets. The C4 got a bit more sophisticated with a five link rear suspension and the front suspension was improved with the addition of rack and pinion steering. The instrument panel is all electronic with displays for the fuel level, oil pressure, battery voltage as well as the oil and coolant temperatures. In 1985 the Corvette received a new Tuned Port Injection system along with a half point compression increase which increased the output by 25 horsepower to a total of 230hp. With the exception of a stainless steel exhaust and normal wear items, this car is completely original with 32,868 actual miles. Options on this beauty include power seats, cruise control, a removable glass panel and the Delco- Bose premium sound system with AMFM cassette player. If you are looking for a classic C4 that is in great shape you will be hard pressed to find one this original with such low mileage for the price we are asking! |
