When the Italian tractor manufacturer, Ferruccio Lamborghini, had his (probably apocryphal) fall out with Enzo Ferrari, he decided that he would build his own supercars to compete (and hopefully better) Ferraris. However, when Enzo came out with a budget model line (albeit under a different name) with less than the previously de riguer twelve cylinders, Ferruccio followed suit. Initially with Urraco in 1973, then the Jalpa in 1981. This particular car has lived in California all its life and travelled a mere 19,000 kilometers (12,000 miles) from new so consequently has escaped the wear and tear of higher mileage/less hospitable climate cars. The diamond white coachwork is straight and rust free while the cream leather interior is virtually unmarked. Mechanically it is very strong with good oil pressure, no smoke and good synchros, clutch and brakes. A Jalpa is a terrific first step into the world of exotic car ownership, with its striking supercar looks and great pedigree, it provides huge bang for the buck. Also, with just 410 Jalpas made in total, they are far more rare than their Maranello rivals and therefore offer tremendous potential for investment, as well.
