This bright red 1990 Chevrolet Corvette convertible offers big fun with a little price tag. Even todayand#44; the C4 is a potent street carand#44; and this one with an L98 and 6-speed manual transmission can more than hold its own with some much more recent hardware. And there really is nothing like cruising in your own Corvette roadsterand#44; and this one will get you into all the great Corvette events around the country for not a lot of scratch. The creative types must have been on vacation when GM was coming up with Corvette colors in 1990and#44; because its merely called Bright Red. Whatever its calledand#44; howeverand#44; theres no mistaking that shapeand#44; which is one of the most distinctive ever created. This one has been driven and enjoyedand#44; but still looks greatand#44; even 25 years after it was first taken home by an enthusiastic new owner. The car has been repaintedand#44; because a Corvette is inevitably going to get chips on that pointed noseand#44; and the respray looks every bit as good as the original paint might have looked in 1990. The rear bumper shows no signs of damageand#44; not even stress cracks that come from nudging the car behind you while parkingand#44; and the rockers havent been beaten up by stray rocks flying off those wide-by-huge tires. Where some Corvettes of this vintage look tired and oldand#44; this one is crisp and freshand#44; backed by only 53and#44;171 original miles. The black leather interior is 100% originaland#44; howeverand#44; unlike many convertiblesand#44; the interior hasnt been cooked by the sun and has been properly conditioned and maintainedand#44; so the leather is in excellent shape. The seats themselves remain firm and comfortableand#44; and the cockpit is still a great place to do the serious business of driving. The half analogand#44; half digital instrument panel is a cool relic of the timeand#44; and all the gauges are fully functional. Better yetand#44; the ZF 6-speed is still one of the slickest-shifting manuals ever devisedand#44; and you just need to remember to goose the throttle on the 1-2 shift to avoid the skip shift feature. Almost everything was standard on Corvettesand#44; and this one has cold A/Cand#44; power windowsand#44; locksand#44; seatsand#44; and mirrorsand#44; cruise controland#44; and a tilt steering columnand#44; so youd be comfortable driving it today. Carpets are cleanand#44; the door panels are very goodand#44; and the recent white convertible top stows easily and seals up tightly. And as a bonusand#44; this Vette also includes a rather rare removable hardtopand#44; a $1995 option in 1990. Tilt that massive clamshell hood forward and youll find GMs evergreen L98 350 cubic inch V8. With Tuned-Port Injectionand#44; it generates enough low-end torque to pull a building off its foundation and pulls like a freight train through the gears. Despite being the most modification-friendly car in decadesand#44; this one seems to be completely stock save for a throaty dual exhaust systemand#44; meaning that its bulletproof and likely to remain that way. The engine bay is quite clean and nicely maintained and the chassis looks like a fair-weather toyand#44; not a daily driverand#44; with original paint still visible on the floors and no chalky corrosion on the aluminum bits. Stock Corvette alloys are very goodand#44; and wear recent 275/40/17 Goodyear radials. If youre a Corvette admirerand#44; this is a great opportunity to get into a drop-top Vette for not a lot of money. The basics are all veryand#44; very goodand#44; all this one needs is a new home.
