The last of the full-sized GM luxury sedans are noteworthy for a lot of reasonsand#44; and finding a car like this 1993 Chevrolet Caprice Classic is none too easy today. Sureand#44; plenty of Impala SS models survived as collector carsand#44; but when was the last time you saw a Caprice this nice? This is probably the most desirable of the big Caprice Classicsand#44; mostly because its a late production car with the open rear wheel wells. Earlier cars with the pseudo skirts over the rear fenders never quite looked rightand#44; but this full-sized cruiser has great proportions. The dignified paint certainly helpsand#44; and it changes from blue to gray to green depending on the light. Its mostly originaland#44; suggesting a car thats led an easy lifeand#44; and while it does have some signs of useand#44; it looks quite good today. The big urethane bumper covers in particular are prone to cracking with ageand#44; but these remain in great shapeand#44; with the rear bumper having been repainted at some point but youd never notice without us telling you about it. The Caprice got plenty of chromeand#44; tooand#44; including a traditional grille with stand-up hood ornament up frontand#44; a bright rub strip that surrounds the cars perimeterand#44; and shiny wheel arch moldings. The finishing touch is a simple pinstripe on the body line just below the windowsand#44; adding a bit of old-fashioned luxury. Speaking of luxuryand#44; this is old school comfort when you open the door. Bigand#44; spacious cloth bucket seats provide all-day comfort and lots of room to stretch out on road trips. Its no surprise why these were also a favorite of police departments for many years. Even the instrument panel is massiveand#44; stretching ¾ of the way across the dashboard. The driver gets a basic set of instruments that helpfully includes a temperature gauge in addition to the usual speed and fuel level readingsand#44; and everything else is logically arranged. Almost everything was standardand#44; so you get powerful A/Cand#44; power windowsand#44; locksand#44; and seatsand#44; cruise controland#44; and a tilt steering column that was a relatively new addition to the options list in 1993. Some burled walnut appliques on the dash and door panels give it a warmand#44; upscale look and as youd expectand#44; the back seat is truly massive. It also includes the original AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit that still sounds decent in the hushed interior. The trunk is likewise gigantic and includes a few spare parts as well as a spare tire and jack assembly. V8 power should be expected in a full-sized luxury carand#44; and this Caprice uses a 305 cubic inch V8 to provide entertaining motivation. Theres plenty of room under the hood for easy service accessand#44; and as a small block Chevyand#44; its one of the most reliable machines on earth. Its quite nicely maintained and 100% stockand#44; so it runs superbly and never gets fussyand#44; and youll be pleased to learn that it was owned by a professional mechanic who kept it in top condition. It starts easily and idles smoothly with a muted hum from the exhaustand#44; which features a brand new catalytic converter. The underside is shockingly clean and with a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmissionand#44; its a superlative highway cruiser. Well also admit that we love the look of those big 215/75/15 Michelin blackwalls and wire wheel coversand#44; giving it a purposeful look that works well. You wont find many full-sized Caprices nicer than this. At this priceand#44; its probably the most sheetmetal per dollar youll find anywhere. Call today! |
