Details: 5614 original miles, 6-speed, LT1, triple black with almost every available option. 100% stock and still sitting on original Goodyear RS-A tires. The one to own if you want an untouched, unmodified, unabused F-body.

You canandrsquo;t go wrong with basic black, not on a car with this much performance, and the top-of-the-line Z/28 delivers an aggressive look without going overboard. That factory-applied paint is better than youandrsquo;d expect from a mass-produced GM car, but by 1995 they had the system straightened out and the heavy orange peel issues from the andlsquo;80s were totally resolved. Itandrsquo;s glossy, deep, and very black, gleaming under the lights in the showroom like, well, a new car. Those composite body panels fit together surprisingly well, too, and the doors close with a reassuring THUNK and the urethane bumpers arenandrsquo;t cracked or wavy from sitting in the heat. This is a very well-preserved car in every possible way.

You canandrsquo;t do better than black leather in your Z, and again, the highest praise we can offer is that itandrsquo;s like new inside. There might be a few wrinkles in the driverandrsquo;s seat hides from people getting in and out, but then again maybe the cow was wrinkled that way. The rest, of course, is as new including the carpets, door panels, and dash pad. This car is loaded with options, including A/C, cruise control, power windows, mirrors, and locks, a tilt steering column, fog lights, and a rear defroster, and everything works as it should. Itandrsquo;s worth noting that this car does not have T-tops, which is the setup preferred by guys who are serious about performance: less weight, stiffer body, no hassles. Itandrsquo;s likely that nobody has ever been seated in the back seat and the cargo bay remains like new with the accessory cargo cover giving you a way to keep your gear out of sight under the big glass hatch.

But the real reason this car gets a lot of attention is under the hood, where youandrsquo;ll find the final iteration of the venerable 350 cubic inch small block V8: the LT1. Lifted from the Corvette, it was ostensibly de-tuned to 275 horsepower but most sources agree that this was just GM playing with numbersandmdash;the Camaro has 300 horsepowerandrsquo;s worth of grunt, same as the Corvette. The LT1 is also one of the most modification-friendly engines of all time, so if you want more power, itandrsquo;s just a phone call away. But fortunately, this one remains 100% stock and aside from routine fluid changes done according to time, not mileage. It hasnandrsquo;t been raced, abused, flogged, or otherwise mistreated, giving you either the worldandrsquo;s freshest Z or the perfect blank canvas for a killer build. No worries about someone elseandrsquo;s mistakes, bad parts choices, or shoddy workmanship, and it still runs like new: turn the key and itandrsquo;s running. Idle is smooth and it pulls with ferocity through the gears, even in todayandrsquo;s age of 600 horsepower Corvettes. If youandrsquo;re a fan of originality and authenticity, youandrsquo;ll be pleased to see that all the factory stickers, labels, and markings are fully intact, so itandrsquo;s a slam-dunk in preservation competition.

Looking at the undercarriage, weandrsquo;re guessing that this car has never seen rain, let alone snow. Floors, rockers, and all the hardware are beautifully original and unmarked. The 6-speed manual gearbox shifts cleanly, complete with the dreaded skip-shift system in place, and with 3.42 gears out back, itandrsquo;s still plenty quick around town. That towering 50% overdrive 6th gear is responsible for the carandrsquo;s impressive highway fuel economy, but youandrsquo;ll probably find that itandrsquo;s only useful when youandrsquo;re running at truly crazy speeds. The original exhaust system is still shiny, the factory shocks (expensive) are hanging in place, and aside from things like the oil filter, itandrsquo;s 100% factory original.

Analysis: Poor Deal, 26.0% above market avg. What's this?
