The 1996 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is the car for those who like to drive. This was the first year for the hand-built performance 4.6-liter V8. Combine this numbers-matching DOHC motor with the five-speed manual and the luxury interiorand#44; and its an irresistible package that youd expect to pay much more for in this exceptionally affordable coupe. For you it starts with those supremely comfortable tan leather power front seats. The performance buckets are deeply bolsteredand#44; which is a good idea considering this cars performance. White-faced analog gaugesand#44; a leather-wrapped wheeland#44; cruise controland#44; and a five-speed stick were also all part of the performance package for the driver. Plusand#44; power windowsand#44; power locksand#44; keyless entryand#44; an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereoand#44; and ice-cold air conditioning will keep everyone happy. Since this is a modern future classicand#44; you also get to take advantage of features like dual airbags and anti-lock brakes. All-new for 1996and#44; the DOHC 4.6-liter V8 rips through the gears with a zeal that the old 5.0 could only dream of. Smooth and willing to revand#44; it was highly developed by Ford to represent the very best powerplant they could muster. The 32-valve setup gives this a terrific bottom-endand#44; and the V8 grunt makes it feel like it could pull forever. Theres a huge aftermarket supplyand#44; and youll spot a few subtle upgrades like the cold air intakeand#44; performance spark plug wiresand#44; headersand#44; and a ferocious Flowmaster dual exhaust. This is a numbers-matching blockand#44; but the total package should give you a nice boost over the factorys 305 HP rating.
