For a period of eightdaysSaab took perfectly standard Saab 900 cars were driven at full speed on theTalladegacircuit. The cars were picked at random from the production line by special impartial inspectors from the international motorsportfederation. Concurrently with The Saab 900TalladegaChallenge 1996,Saab introduceda new special model known as the Saab 900TalladegaEdition. The new Saab 900TalladegaEdition is powered by the Saab 2.0-litre 185bhpturbo engine and was marketed only as a 1997 model in very limited numbers. The car has all of the equipment included in the Saab 900 SE.
