The Boxster is one of the most popular models ever released by the German car manufacturer Porsche. Its design is mostly based on a mix of the Porsche Spyder and Porsche 550 Spyder. But more important, the Boxster came with a water-cooled engine from the beginning, even if the first model was launched in 1996 (note that the 911 model migrated to water-cooled engines in 1998). In contrast to the 911 generation which came with rear-mounted engines, the Boxster has a mid-engine configuration which improved its handling and enhanced the aerodynamics. The Boxster has a 2.7 liter engine and got a horsepower boost in 2000, going from 201 to 217. With the top lowered, the Boxster offers more cargo space than any of its competitors. The cars mid-engine layout allows two trunks, which combine to provide an impressive 9.1 cubic feet of cargo space. Besides cargo, the Boxsters cockpit has a good deal of space for two occupants and features wonderful, cradling seats. For 2000, the Boxster gains a new soft-touch grain instrument panel and other upgraded interior trim. The shifter and door handles now have an aluminum-like finish. This is one of the worlds greatest sports cars. The handling is both confident and communicative. The steering feedback is fantastic. The chassis is extremely stiff, especially for a convertible.
