If you want a high-visibility Corvetteand#44; this Millennium Yellow 2001 ragtop certainly delivers the goods. The C5 Corvette was a slam-dunk successand#44; and in 2001 the Corvette received a host of upgradesand#44; not the least of which was an upgraded LS1 with 350 horsepower and a whopping 375 pounds of torque on tap. Showing 63and#44;276 original milesand#44; this gorgeous yellow roadster is beautifully preserved and available for a shockingly reasonable price. This Corvettes shiny flanks have been lovingly preservedand#44; and the finish today belies the cars age and mileage. A few upgrades give it a slightly custom lookand#44; including the vented cowl-induction hoodand#44; Z06-style grillesand#44; and the louvered taillightsand#44; so its not just the bright yellow paint that makes this one stand out. With only a few minor battle scarsand#44; this Corvette looks less than half its ageand#44; and it has obviously been owned by a dedicated Corvette fan who routinely washed and waxed it. The primary wear areasand#44; mostly right behind the wheelsand#44; and the chin spoilerand#44; are in very good shapeand#44; and the rest of the car is spectacular. The C5s timeless shape is instantly recognizable as a Corvetteand#44; and looks especially good in yellowand#44; which ended up being one of the most popular colors of all time. Insideand#44; the black leather interior is equally nice. The upgraded sport bucket seats are well preservedand#44; and show only minor wear and age thats entirely in line with the cars condition. The C5s interior was a major step forwardand#44; and offers excellent ergonomics and a comfortable driving position thats good for cross-country runs. This car also features the optional heads-up displayand#44; which projects things like speedand#44; engine RPMand#44; the turn signalsand#44; and other information onto the windshield so it seems to be hovering somewhere out over the hoodand#44; which is incredibly useful when driving fast. Corvettes typically came loaded with just about everythingand#44; including power windowsand#44; power locks with keyless entryand#44; dual zone climate controland#44; and one of the best traction/stability control systems in the world. With it activeand#44; its awfully hard to get in over your headand#44; even with 350 horsepower on tap. Theres also a custom armrest cover and matching yellow steering wheel and airbag emblemsand#44; which brighten up the all-black interior. The black canvas convertible top fits well and shows only minor signs of age and the deep and useful trunk is almost like new. The engine is the fabulously durable and reliable LS1and#44; perhaps the best-engineered small block V8 GM ever designed. Over the yearsand#44; these engines have proven time and time again that theyre virtually indestructible and will stand up to years of abuse with only routine maintenance. It fires up with the characteristic LS1 bark and a smooth hum from a stainless Borla exhaust with custom tips. The engine bay has been dressed up with carbon fiber and theres a custom cold air intake that might add a few horsepower. Fans of manual transmissions will also be pleased to see that this Corvette carries the optional 6-speed manualand#44; which drives a 3.42-geared rear axle with limited slip. The C5s suspension is highly capableand#44; yet the stiff structure allows the use of softer springsand#44; so the ride is far less punishing than the C4s was. 13-inch discs with 2-piston calipers provide legendary stopping powerand#44; and ABS isand#44; of courseand#44; standard equipment. Wheels are positively gorgeous polished forged alloys wearing 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear Michelin radials. If you havent driven a C5 Corvetteand#44; youre really missing out. This is a great car to ownand#44; and a great way to join some of the best enthusiasts in the world. Call today! |
